Should ICANN be DISSOLVED ?
1. ICANN was only created in 1998 to do some Proof-of-Concept Market
Trials to prove there was a "Domain Industry". Part of the theory was
that eventually a free market DNS would evolve with more participants
and less USC/ISI NSF DARPA players.
2. Before ICANN, almost anyone (with a clue) could register a domain
directly with what is now called a Registry.
3. Esther Dyson created a Registrars Labor Union to benefit a few. Her
father described in a WIRED Magazine article how her grandfather ran
labor unions.
4. Today's General Availability of .CO should help to convince more
people that 2-Letter ASCII Strings are not countries. That was an
artificial concoction of mostly Jon Postel.
5. The Harvard Berkman Center was *used* to make ICANN a legal peacock
in the early days. Apparently Berkman is now being contracted to
Affirm ICANN. Extremely inexperienced people are being *used* to
watch-dog the process.

6. SCUBA DNS is coming - Self-Contained UNIX Broadband Appliances are
now less than $50 with plenty of flash memory and smarts to create a
"Registry" via Peer-to-Peer technology. Microsoft continues to evolve
their PNRP - Peer-Name-Resolution Protocol.
7. IPv6 is now one of many. More and more IANA functions are being
automated and audited allowing systems to block routing to
non-compliant systems.
8. There is really nothing (useful) for ICANN to do, at this point.
