Just in case anyone else on this list is under the same misimpression,
Network Solutions and VeriSign split up on 2003. Network Solutions is a
registrar and does not have any contract with ICANN related to .com
pricing. VeriSign is the .com registry operator. Its prices of .com
names are governed by its contract with ICANN. Thanks. Jon

Danny and all,
Well should anyone really be surprised, we've seen this sort of
thing before against NSOL. Of course, this is very bad behavior
by whomever is actually responsible. Yet given NSOL's special
"Deal" with ICANN or automatic price increases for .COM
Domain Names didn't engender very good will and now is being
seen as even further evidance of unrestrained corp. greed. Again
though this also is no excuse for NSOL beeing attacked in this
manner either. Perhaps NSOL would disuage such attacks if
it publically announced that it is freezing prices on DN's in
.COM for a year or so or even rolling them back a bit? But
I'm not holding my breath in anticipation of such, naturally...
