In reading again through the constituency statements, I noticed the
following from the Intellectual Property Constituency:
"IPC opposes data mining of Whois for the purpose of marketing, although we
believe there is strong evidence that Whois data is not a significant source
of addresses for spam."
In trying to write the introduction, I was wondering what this evidence was
the IPC was referring to. I am trying to present both sides. I have a
number of sources that state that Whois information is sold by a number of
companies for "marketing purposes." Please see
http://www.datacds.net/domaindisc/free-offer.html as just one example, along
with the example I quoted in Rome.
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
