RE: [council] Agenda for ICANN Board meeting on 27 May 2016
Thanks Bruce.
I see that the approval of the revised bylaws is up for vote 6 days after
the close of public comment. Does this mean that the Board thinks that the
drafting team will have time in those 6 days to read through and adjust the
bylaws? That seems farfetched to me. Another option would be to draw the
conclusion that the public comment period was for show and there was no
intention of taking comment seriously, but that seems inconsistent with
ICANN's promise to listen to and be accountable to the community. Is there
a third, benign option here that I'm not seeing? Is this Board meeting just
to check in on everyone's progress and there will be no vote to adopt? I
surely hope so. It would be a huge PR blunder (and some would argue
substantive blunder since these bylaws appear far from ready) if not.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Best,
Paul
