Richard,

I was in now way indicating it was Sandeep's responsibility to accommodate delegates. I apologise if it came across that way.

I was simply stating that it is an indictment on the Meeting Organisers that we have to look for lesser grade hotels in order to be able to afford them (or even fit into them)... it is hardly an appropriate "solution".

I could be mistaken, but I didn't realize that Directi was responsible for
accommodating delegates. Seems to me Sandeep is going out of his way to
improve a situation that is not of his causing.

Richard

Sandeep Ramchandani,

Thanks for your email and support for the delegates.

I think it is a little disappointing that your (and ICANN's it seems)
solution to accommodating delegates at an appropriate pricing level is
to look for potential 3 and 4 star hotels. I don't really think that
this is acceptable and that ICANN has certainly dropped the ball on the
timing and venue of this meeting.

Merry Christmas all,

Hello Guys,

Yea the hotel rates do seem quite expensive.

Fortunately though, I have some people in my team that are naturally
motivated to ensure that nothing deters delegates to visit Delhi in full
strength. They took up the initiative of finding cheaper alternatives,
and
were very effective. They've zeroed in on 4-6 alternatives, all within 7
miles of the conference venue, 3-5 star, and between USD 200 - 400 /
night.

I'll be sending these details to ICANN by tomorrow, with a request to
negotiate a bulk deal and allow everyone to take advantage of the
volumes.
Meanwhile, if anyone would like to talk to these hotels directly, just
ping
me and ill be happy to share this list with you.

Bob and Tim: Hope this changes your decision :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Dear Tim: Neither will I. I had hoped to spend nine days in Delhi and
thereabouts. But over US$500/day just does not make sense. Regards,
