If accurate the amazing thing is the lack of public notice. You would think it would be immediately done by press releases by all parties rather than leaked by tidbits. Strange marketing and PR. If false it is well done as it has a ring of truth no matter what.
You would think there would be immediate RFPs by ICANN and you would also think that it would require further court order - all of which I searched for and could not find as of this writing.
Seems like a good idea in general, the only question would be "why GoDaddy?" instead of someone else.
