Jeff, easy old boy.

Just because Vints name comes up with Google does not mean he has anything to do with googlechina. Your article is about bribery not censorship. And it is not about bribery occuring but about the steps our USgov goes to to prevent it.
I think you should be aware, that there are folks whose sole job in life is to look into foreign investment. More particularly, East Asian Communist joint ventures with US based companies. And probably we could break that down even further - China/technology. And then we would find that there are at least 30 folks who look at this niche full time and interface or investigate the US companies doing such business. It is good for everyone. Until some ignorant reporter reports it like it must mean something bad is going on, when in fact it is so routine and mondane that the USgov guys sometimes have an office right in with the company.

Since the article does not mention any wrongful conduct (report of same could be obtain through FOI) One must assume this article is really an endorsement of the companies mentioned as being clean.

All former DNSO GA members and other interested stakeholders/users,

Is google and other search engine companies on a selective
censorship binge? If so, could such be from influence of
Vint Cerf given his known propensity for same?

Why is it that wherever Vint Cerf hangs his hat these days...
First Worldcom/con now google... Hmmmm.... :(

Seems both sides of the political are together on this one...

"The U.S. Government is questioning Google in relation to corporate
behavior under anti-bribery laws. The government is also questioning
Yahoo, Microsoft and Cisco about their dealings with the Chinese
government. From the Red Herring article: "There is precedent for
the U.S. government establishing laws governing the conduct of U.S.
companies abroad. During 1977 the U.S. government enacted the Foreign
Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), which was substantially revised during
1988. The provisions of the FCPA prohibit the bribery of foreign
government officials by U.S. citizens and prescribe accounting and
record-keeping practices. Opponents of the law said it would severely
restrict the ability of U.S. companies to compete in many countries
where bribery was part of the commercial fabric." ats-tech wrote to
give us the link to Google's response to these events, via the
