Sadly enough DARPA just spent over 15 million on a project to get the best remote i.e. wireless vehicles to go some distance, how far was the furthest? http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/28/36234.html
A search for DARPA on yahoo only provides a eastern euro page.
And yet I can buy at a hobbie store all required for a stock remote vehicle to go 2 miles.
There is clearly a great divide between actuality and the great techno thinkers.
How much of this is policy and how much military style snafu.

Seems that the self styled "father of the internet", Vinton Cerf's
IP [ Internet Protocol ] has finally begun to be recognized as
obsolete for wireless networking. Not that this is all that unknown
as several stakeholders/users on this forum reached that conclusion
some three years ago now in discussions and debates on this
forum.
