ICANN has called for "further evaluation and study" of the impact of
SiteFinder. The proper question for VeriSign to consider is whether it

their will -- or not at all.

If VeriSign is a serious operator it will implement SiteFinder in brainware. It means that now they know the typos of the people and what they usually mean, they will register that names and will send them to a reroute http://sitefinder.com page. They will then provide a 100% IAB compliant service taking the business out of M$ the same, just a longer db.file. They will then contact the site holders and propose them a package. This service being based on normal DNs owned by an affiliated company, they do not need any special authorization of ICANN. May be will they find a good marketing way to propose the service at $15 per year to the 1.000.000s typo names they have in stock.

So bad they have imagination enough for marginal businesses and killed 80% of their main plain regular domain name business and do not see how they could restore a broad part of it :-)
