other Internet related lists for a long time. In that time, I have seen
everything from conspiracy theories to personal anecdotes that imply serious
problems at Go-Daddy, but even the most impassioned anecdote or accusation
means very little until someone independently looks over the books and checks a
few random private registrations for validity and confirms that every SLD held
off the market under the pretense of private registrations does indeed have a
legitimate and paying person behind it. When that is done, we may convict or
exonerate with better certainty. Until then, we may call for investigation by
an and all legal jurisdictions that apply, but we can not reasonably convict on
what is known today.

Under the assumption that Go-Daddy is indeed playing with
> SLDs as you
describe, your points are well taken. The option so
> heavily promoted
when signing for an SLD with them, "private
> registrations" (though I
think it should not be allowed, personally)
> requires that some legal
authority be allowed to look at their books
> and those of their
associated private registration company to see who
> really paid for
those registration, if anyone, and if they are
> legitimately "owned" by
real people or cleverly removed from the
> general market to extract a
higher price through forced negotiation
> with an unpublished and only
presumably real registrant. In short,
> there may be a lot one could
string up Go-Daddy for, not to even
> mention their trashy
advertisements, but there should be a vehicle to
> acquire real proof
before condemning them publicly on
> assumptions.-Karl E. Peters,

Cheryl / Danny
> >
> > GoDaddy is the biggest ICANN
registrar
>
> Indeed it is.
>
> >
>
>
> > How likely is it that ICANN will take any action
against
> them?
>
> Not likely as the revenues that ICANN
receives from GoDaddy
> are
> the most of any registrar. And the
way and manner in which
> ICANN
> burns $$ they need GoDaddy too
badly. Too big to fail, if
> you will...
> Sound/read
familiar?
>
> >
> >
> > What options are open
to ICANN to take against them?
>
> Several. But the best would be
to de-accredit GoDaddy. A
> VERY unlikely action by ICANN. Next would be
to find
> a white knight to come in and take over GoDaddy after
>
requiring
> the owners and Sr. Executives of GoDaddy to resign
>
immediately
> or be dis-accredited.
>
> >
>
>
> > The inter-registrar transfer policy isn't part of the
RAA,
> is it?
>
> No, but the new proposed RAA has some
provisions dealing
> with
> inter-registrar transfer. My questions
are: what does ICANN
> propose
> to do for all those registrants
that have been damaged by
> GoDaddy's
> miss-behavior? Will ICANN
be financially compensating these
> registrants adequately, if at
all?
>
> >
> >
> > Regards
>
