Revised GNSO Operating Procedures Add Voting Thresholds for Empowered Community Related Decisions

Last Updated:
Date

On 30 January, the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council adopted a set of modifications to the GNSO Operating Procedures. These modifications are to ensure the GNSO would be in position to fulfill its roles and responsibilities as a Decisional Participant in the Empowered Community, following the adoption of the post-transition ICANN Bylaws. Specifically, the revised GNSO Operating Procedures, as well as the proposed corresponding changes to the ICANN Bylaws, reflect additional GNSO voting thresholds for certain Empowered Community related decisions. The revised GNSO Operating Procedures are effective immediately, while the proposed changes to the ICANN Bylaws have been submitted to the ICANN Board for its consideration.
